Whitewater speedwell is a Chicagoland Grows® selection. Chicagoland Grows® is a plant introduction partnership of the 91½ûÂþ, the Morton Arboretum and the Ornamental Growers Association of Northern Illinois formed to promote plant cultivars that perform well in northern Illinois. This variety was selected at Elite Growers as a white-flowered sport of Veronica 'Waterperry Blue'. Whitewater forms a dense low carpet, growing 4" to 6" tall and spreading 12" to 18" wide in a single season. Over time, it can cover a more expansive area. The plant is dense enough to suppress weeds and tough enough to tolerate some foot traffic. The ½" glossy dark-green leaves are produced on creeping, wiry stems. The foliage turns an attractive burgundy to bronze in winter months; it is evergreen in mild climates.
